A giant, secluded inland Florida island just got a little cheaper, so to speak.
Accessible only by boat or seaplane, Bird Island, located at 6001 Bird Island Dr., is a 51-acre remote island in the middle of Lake Griffin, which is is part of the Harris Chain of Lakes, just outside of The Villages.
Other than total seclusion, the island itself doesn't have much. But it does come with a 1,120-square-foot main house, which features two-bedrooms and one bathroom, as well as a wrap-around porch and vaulted ceilings. It also comes with a dock, its own electricity and water supply, and everything you see in the photos below.
Arguably the main draw here is that the whole island is already zoned for three much larger estates, so building your giant wilderness lodge won't be a problem.
The island has been on and off the market for years. After it sold in 2014 for $190,000, Bird Island reappeared on the market in 2019, this time with a massive $6.7 million asking price. The price tag has steadily dropped ever since, and last week another $200K was slashed, dropping the asking down to $1.8 million.
