Photos: One year later, Tampa Theatre reopened to the public last weekend

On March 11—a year after closing for in-person screenings to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus—Tampa Theatre reopened its doors to real-life moviegoers for limited-capacity screenings of “The Father.”

Creative Loafing Tampa Bay photographer Javier Ortiz got a tour around the historic downtown venue on Saturday, and saw sanitization stations throughout the building along with seats on the first floor cordoned off with "social distance" belts (balcony seats not yet open to the public) Snacks and drink orders were placed via an online menu accessible by QR code, and the best part was hearing the famous Tampa Theatre Wurlitzer helmed by acclaimed organist and friend of the theatre, Dr. Steven Ball.—Ray Roa
