A mid-century home designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright is back on the market on Snell Isle, but now with a serious price slash.
Located at 10 Brightwaters Cir. NE, the home was completed in 1964 and was designed by the late Sanford M. Goldman, who studied under Wright for two years in the late-1950s at the Taliesin fellowship in Wisconsin.
Goldman, who passed away at the age of 88 last year, practiced architecture in Tampa Bay for over 50 years and was well known for his use of glass walls and courtyards, as well his skill at "blurring the lines between exterior and interior."
This home is no different. The 4,213-square-foot home comes with four bedrooms and five bathrooms and features imported Jerusalem stone floors, huge glass-partitioned walls, a pool, 200-feet of waterfront, and more.
The home was originally built for the late Donald Silverberg, who was a local jeweler and a prominent St. Pete civil rights activist.
The home is now owned by Kevin Chadwick, a St. Petersburg native who owns several area Keller Williams real estate franchises, as well as downtown's Floridian Social (FKA State Theatre).
Goldman's other projects include the Hernando County Government Center, and the Ransom Art Center at Eckerd College.
But besides his many homes and buildings around Pinellas, Sarasota and Hernando counties, Goldman was also a big advocate of low income housing, and was one of the founding members of the Community Alliance, which was a group formed to fight racism in the area.
In 2018, Goldman received a proclamation for his accomplished career and contributions to mid-century modern architecture from St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman.
According to public records, the Chadwick family purchased the home in 2010 for $1,063,000. The home has been on and off the market for the last couple years, and was listed as high as $7.8 million last January.
The home is now asking $6.950 million, and the listing agent is Rachel Sartain of The Tenpenny Collection.
