The city owns and operates four cemeteries (Jackson Heights, Marti/Colon, Oaklawn, and Woodlawn), totaling about 40 acres with over 29,000 recorded burials. Oaklawn, Tampa's first cemetery, even offers a walking tour, and was deeded in 1850 as a final resting place for "White and Slave, Rich and Poor."
