It’s not hard to hear the influence of everything from Laurel Canyon folk, ‘60s psychedelia, and even the pained optimism of Elliott Smith.

Indie-rock is the bin Dream Phases lives in at the record store, but it’s not hard to hear the influence of everything from Laurel Canyon folk, ‘60s psychedelia, and even the pained optimism of Elliott Smith on songs like “New Distractions.”

The L.A. quintet—fresh off the release of a new album, Phantom Idol—plays a hometown-ish show over the weekend, but will be in the Sunshine State by hump day as part of a short tour that wraps at South Florida’s revered Bumblefest.

Tickets to see Dream Phases play Hooch and Hive in Tampa on Wednesday, Sept. 4 are still available for and start at $12.
