There’s no shortage of places to see things go boom in the sky across Tampa Bay, but this year’s installment of Boom By the Bay will also have music fans going, “blap, blap, blap.”

The occasion? A reunion of Tampa'sGwan Massive which over the years has included the city’s best musicians, rappers, DJs and beatmakers. More or less genre-agnostic, the Gwans hop around jazz, funk, rock, hip-hop and soul with ease.

This free show goes down at JBL and is family-friendly. Lawn chairs, blankets and small coolers are allowed, along with food and soft drinks (no booze or cooking though).

There’s no cover to see Gwan Massive play Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park in Tampa on Thursday, July 4. Subscribe to Creative Loafing newsletters.
