Nearly everything you need to know about Fall Of the Albatross’ new LP, Rite, is in the opening track. There are moments on “Seance” that feel like the rock breakdowns in records from the glory days of Return to Forever and others where the kids in Korn shirts are still in their Japanese city-pop phase.

There are even songs on the album (“Tanya”) that wear just a sniff of metal until the the very end when mathy arrangements meet double-bass outros.

The New York prog-rock band headlines Seminole Heights' Legion hall with support from experimental punk trio Phlegm, which made its live debut last February, and rock duo Movie Props.

Promoters suggest a $5 donation at the door when Fall Of the Albatross plays American Legion Seminole Post 111 in Tampa on Sunday, June 30.
