It’s been almost two years since the queen of anti-cool, Colleen Green, came to The Bends, and while this show doesn’t actually find the Massachusetts native coming back to St. Petersburg, it does feature Ben Katzman’s DeGreaser, whose forthcoming album, Quarter Life Crisis, was produced by Green herself. The lead single, “Chill Position,” is just under two minutes of raw, breakneck rawk that feels like it’s on its ninth Red Bull and vodka.

MUSIC ISSUE 2018
There’s a big noise coming out of Lakeland, and Emily Jones playing a huge part in making it

Katzman will tease songs from Quarter Life Crisis (an album that tells the tale of the no-nonsense, nonsensical, journey through one’s 20s) while also playing cuts from a three-piece discography that dates all the way back to 2015’s Ramones-core classic, Rok N Rol Community College. Clang!, a new punk band featuring Emily Jones (one of the CL Music Issue’s young artists to watch) opens this show that’s part of a DeGreaser tour that will take the band all the way to the U.K. in 2018.
