Shake Shack opens in Tampa on Monday, June 7 at 11 a.m.

Cross Shake Shack off the list of fast-food chains that aren’t in Tampa Bay, but need to be. On Monday, June 7 at 11 a.m., the popular burger chain opens to the public at Midtown Tampa near the intersection of Dale Mabry Highway and I-275.

Rumors about Shake Shack’s arrival in Tampa Bay started in the fall of 2019 before officials at the chain made their announcement official early last year.

Shack offerings— signature burgers, alongside chicken sandos, hot dogs, shakes, and fries (with or without cheese sauce)—can be had at tables both inside and outside or via pickup and delivery via the Shack App.

If you like booze with your Shack sauce, the Tampa Shake Shack location at 1011 Gramercy Ln. also serves house wine (red, white, rosé) along with Brooklyn Brewery “Shackmeister Ale.” Local beer options at Shake Shack Tampa include Cigar City and Florida Beer Co.

And if you’re on the fence about heading to Shake Shack on opening day, know that a dollar from every sandwich ordered on June 7 will be donated to Feeding Tampa Bay. What’s more is that 5% of all sales from a special “Pride Shake” with “strawberry and blackberry frozen custard topped with a mango + passion fruit blend, whipped cream and rainbow glitter” will benefit the Trevor Project.

Glassdoor says Shake Shack employees make anywhere from $12-$23/hour based on their responsibilities, and a PR rep for the location told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that the new Shake Shack is still currently hiring new team members for $12/hr.

UPDATED 06/02/21 8:26 p.m. Updated to show that workers at Tampa's Shake Shack are still being hired for $12/hr.
