This morning, popular travel website TripAdvisor released its annual "Best of the Best Things To Do Awards," and quite a few Florida spots made the cut, including a local kayaking outfit.

At the top of the list, Get Up and Go's Clear Kayak Tours at Shell Key Preserve in Tiera Verde came in at 9th over all in the United States under "Top Experiences." Other Florida experiences that ranked high include the Little Havana Food and Walking Tour in Miami (13th), and Fun 2 Dive's Manatee Tour in Crystal River (25th).

Under the "Top Destinations" category, Key West ranked 10th, with St. Augustine ranking 19th in the country.  While in the "Trending Destinations" category, St. Petersburg ranked 2nd, and Marathon in the Florida Keys ranked 3rd.

Of course, Florida was also well represented in the "Best Attractions" category.  Key Largo's John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park was ranked as the 4th best attraction in the United States, while the Stetson Mansion in Deland came in at 5th.  The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory also place 20th on the list.

In the Amusement Park category, there were quite a few surprises. Orlando's Magic Kingdom placed 2nd behind Dollywood in Tennessee, and Fun Spot America in Kissimmee ranked 3rd, above the 4th place Universal Islands of Adventure.

Also, Fun Spot America Orlando placed 5th, which was higher than Disney's Hollywood Studios (6th), Busch Gardens Tampa (9th), Universal Studios Florida (13th), Legoland Florida (15th), and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park (20th).

According to Tripadvisor, the rankings were determined by the "quality and quantity" of reviews and ratings between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024, as well as an undisclosed "additional editorial process."
