It’s fuckin’ here, and it’s pretty symbolic. Gasparilla Music Festival 2020 (GMF) was Tampa Bay’s last large scale event before the world shut down, and this weekend’s expanded three-day agenda—postponed to October—not only marks GMF’s 10th anniversary, but also a return to The Curt and Kiley Garden in downtown Tampa.
Things are different this year thanks to an admission policy that calls for a negative COVID-19 test (or vaxx card). The lineup, per usual, is an eclectic mix of more than three dozen new, old and local artists—including Nas, Gov't Mule, Sylvan Esso, Parquet Courts, Sofi Tukker, Young MC and more—but it’s also made up of acts who’ve decided to take the risk and come on down to sunny, F-L-A so that they are their crew members can have a chance at making some money again. Be kind to each other out there, Tampa Bay. And wash the fuck out of your hands, too.
