Concert review (with pics): Whiskey & Co., Will Quinlan & The Diviners, and Matt Butcher at New World Brewery

Saturday found a distilled presence at New World Brewery!
Whiskey & Co. headlined a fine evening of Americana along with Will Quinlan & The Diviners and Matt Butcher this past Saturday, April 25. The show was hosted by Thx Mgmt.
As you can see from the photos, Gainesville's Whiskey & Co. has a ferverent following enticed by engaging harmonies and rowdy alt-country tunes. Though firmly rooted in the Americana genre, a bit of the band's punk lineage crept into their set, which also had a delightful touch of outlaw. The band is currently working on a new record and playing frequently over the next couple months, so keep an eye out for summertime shows. To tide you over in the meantime, pick up Leaving the Nightlife, or their self-titled release from No Idea Records.
Whiskey & Co is Kim Helm (Vocals), Brian Johnson (Vocals and Guitar), Ronnie Holmes (Guitar), Jon Reinertsen (Drums), and Troy Perlman (Bass).
Tampa's Will Quinlan & The Diviners played an intense but short set due to a sudden onset of an illness affecting Quinlan's voice. Despite the short set, the audience was truly captivated and as a result extremely supportive of Quinlan's need to cut it short. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Will!
Will Quinlan & The Diviners are Will Quinlan (Vox/Guitar), Soraya Zaumeyer (vox/keys), Brian Lane (upright bass), Scott Anderson (electric & lap steel guitars) and Jesse Martin (drums).
Orlando's Matt Butcher performed solo, a balanced mix of new and old tunes including the very catchy title track off his new record, Me and My Friends. Matt's songs cover universal themes of heartbreak, sadness and loneliness but somehow leave you feeling uplifted. You can catch Matt playing with his band The Revolvers at The Plaza in Orlando on May 9.
