Dead Maids to play New World on July 5

This arrived too late to make it in Music Week, so I'm just going to drop a lazy blog post (hey, I've got an Against Me! cover story to write, folks, and it's due tomorrow and tonight I'm going to the Trop to watch the Rays once again humiliate the BoSox). Anyway, here's the skinny from THX MGMT:
(TAMPA, FL) - Rising independent U.K. rock band Dead Maids, a group currently drawing comparisons to such revered acts as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sonic Youth and Explosions in the Sky, will perform at storied Ybor City music venue New World Brewery on Saturday, July 5. The group is wrapping up its first U.S. tour.
Formerly known as Monster Bastard Project, Dead Maids have won accolades in their homeland for an eclectic, layered instrumental sound that draws as deeply on heavy influences like Isis and Black Sabbath as it does the cinematic and slowly building vibe of Sigur Ros. The group changed its name at the end of last year.
Joining Dead Maids for their first-ever Tampa Bay appearance are equally adventurous Orlando act Attached Hands (an offshoot of that city's beloved Summerbirds in the Cellar), atmospheric Lakeland band Joon, and Tampa's own, heavily buzzed instrumental outfit Petrograd in Transit. All in all, it's a bill that promises something for fans of both experimental and melodic fare, and a first look at some emerging performers whose names are already on the lips of underground music fans worldwide.
The New World Brewery is located at 1313 East Eighth Avenue in Ybor City. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $7. This show is open to music lovers 21 and older.
