WMNF Tribute to Levon Helm and The Band

Another of 'MNF’s fundraising tribute shows hits the Skipperdome barely a week after the last one – surprise! Americana and roots rock acts from Tampa and its surrounding locales honors the late Levon Helm, an artist best known for his deep-drawling vocals and innovative drumming in The Band, though he earned three Grammys for his more recent solo work. I expect you'll hear some Band originals ("The Weight," "Ophelia," "Up on Cripple Creek"), Band-stamped Dylan tracks ("I Shall Be Released," "When I Paint My Masterpiece"), and likely a healthy chunk of material performed in The Last Waltz (most of the aforementioned cuts included). Performing acts: Thomas Wynn and the Believers (7:55 p.m.), Gypsy Wind (7:30 p.m.), Ted Lukas and The Tailights (7 p.m.), Steve Connelly and the Lesser Gods (6:35 p.m.), Rich Whiteley Band (6:05 p.m.), Sara Rose Band (5:40 p.m.), The Applebutter Express (5:10 p.m.).
