Year after year, emerging and established artists visit the University of Tampa’s STUDIO-f to experiment and make unique monoprints. In March, UT imports one of Brooklyn’s rising stars — William Villalongo, an under-40 painter whose art has been snapped up by the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Studio Museum in Harlem and a slate of university art collections. A selection of his paintings, which remix landscape painting traditions and popular imagery derived from American and African-American culture, goes on view at UT’s Scarfone/Hartley Gallery for the month. Villalongo takes up residence at STUDIO-f From March 11 to the 22nd for a visit that includes a public talk and reception to celebrate the artist’s new prints. See CL's March 21 issue and CLTampa.com/Arts for full-length feature about the artist. —Megan Voeller
