Remember those bleary-eyed all-nighters of playing Super Mario, trying to get into Bowser's Castle, and the doo-doo-doo melody and bouncy sounds that would haunt you in your dreams? Video games and their music have a special place in our conscious, sometimes burned into our brains after hours of blistering joystick abuse. Relive those tunes, introduce your kids to them and participate in a totally immersive concert event perfect for the entire family. Video Games Live features top orchestras and choirs performing in tandem with exclusive video footage and music arrangements from the most popular video games of all time. The event showcases synchronized lighting sets, solo performers, live action and unique interactive segments. Games featured have included Mario, Zelda, Halo, Final Fantasy, Warcraft, Sonic and more. Tommy Tallarico hosts with guest conductor Emmanuel Fratianni, the University of South Florida Chamber Singers and James Bass, music and artistic director of the Florida Orchestra. Whether gold coins will pop out of bricks — that remains to be seen. —Julie Garisto
