With raspy-voiced commentary on capitalism and governmental gluttony delivered against gospel-soul flecked backing vocals and a blues rocking groove, “Greedy” introduces Tommy Castro & The Painkillers. The current outfit fronted by the guitar-wailing California purveyor of soulful R&B, Chicago blues and Southern rock issued the track in November on a vinyl 45, Greedy/That’s All I Got, as an appetizer of sorts to a full-length album that’s set for release sometime this year via Alligator Records. Also on the bill: Ellie Lee.
