With David Sedaris in town Saturday night and the Times Festival of Reading at USF St. Pete all day, Tampa Bay bookworms should be pretty excited, and with good reason. The Times’ annual event is a huge who’s who for Floridaphiles and readers of all types with informal talks, exhibitions workshops and other ephemera to keep folks occupied amid USFSP’s idyllic trappings. Prominent authors sharing works include Raymond Arsenault, Nicholas Baker, Ira Sukrungruang, Lynn Waddell, Carlton Ward Jr., the Times’ Stephanie Hayes (her Obitchuary pictured here) and CL contributors Peter and Jeanne Meinke. News junkies should enjoy a talk by John Dos Passos Coggin, who discusses his book about a favorite Florida governor, Walkin’ Lawton. Shudder at the bridge tragedy tome Skyway by Bill DeYoung, and Eric Deggans trots out his acclaimed Race Baiter again.
