The Tampa Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival takes place Oct. 4-12 and highlights the best in LGBT filmmaking while offering something for everyone of all sexual orientations. The event opens with a free movie — The Happy Sad, a 2013 film that centers on two young couples in New York — one black and gay, one white and heterosexual — who find their lives intertwined as they create new relationship norms, explore sexual identity, and redefine monogamy. Food trucks will gather before the film at 6, VIPs walk the Orange Carpet at 8, and an Orange Party caps it off at the Vault. Disclaimer: Due to seating limitations, tickets are honored first-come, first-served; no guarantee of admission. Arrive early.
