Sculptor, builder, installation artist Taylor Pilote displays a work that invokes a critique of our modern culture. Clearly influenced by urban themes and intense engagement of different materials with fine tuned skill. His pieces give an automotive, laid-back-all-American contemporary feeling — with a lot of space for interpretation, but also with concrete contemporary exploration of what it means to be a young, reckless male. Working with wood, he uncannily simulates melting Fiberglass and some interesting optical illusions. His work has been exhibited in Toronto Sculpture Center, the Canadian Sculpture Society, the Museum of Fine Arts at Florida State University and most recently Miami Independent Thinkers at Miami Basel 2012. —DV
