Tassels will be a-flyin’ this weekend as Florida’s burlesque community converges on St. Petersburg for a four-day smorgasbord of performances, parties, workshops and a panel discussion devoted to the gentle — or deliciously trashy, depending on the gal — art of striptease. The fest kicks off on Thursday evening with a Burlesque Showcase and Mr. Suncoast Boa Competition (8 p.m.; $10) at St. Petersburg Nights, that little slice of Russia on St. Pete Beach. Come Friday the revelry continues with a Pin-Up Party and Pub Crawl; check the festival’s website for details. On Saturday and Sunday, join a bevy of burlesque experts for workshops ($30) on topics from how to “work the chair” to defending yourself against aggressive fans. (Vita deVoid’s session “Your Cleavage, Your Personality: Costume and Pasties” should not be missed.) Sunday’s panel discussion on the history, art and evolution of burlesque with seasoned performers Madame Onça, Coco Lectric, Camille 2000 and EziRider provides a grand finale at belly dancing studio Hip Expressions (2033 54th Ave N, Suite B, St. Pete). —Megan Voeller
