Gasparilla's won't be the only old ship sailing into bay waters. The 122-foot square top sail schooner Lynx will port at Harborage Marina in St. Petersburg as part of a tour of the U.S. and Canada in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and the Star-Spangled Banner. The ship will participate in the Gasparilla invasion and be open for public tours and sails at various times and dates through Jan. 30. Arrival at noon on Jan. 25. Public tour 1-6 p.m. According to the website bio: "Lynx is an interpretation of an actual privateer named Lynx built by Thomas Kemp in 1812 in Fell's Point, Maryland. She was among the first ships to defend American freedom by evading the British naval fleet then blockading American ports and serving in the important privateering efforts."
