Fans, old drinking buddies and party hoppers converge at the old Flamingo Bar to celebrate the birthday of late great beat writer Jack Kerouac (he was born March 12, 1922). The party includes poetry readings and live music by Ronny Elliott, Pat Barmore, Pete Gallagher, Rebekah Pulley, The Spark Notes, Keith Hope, Dylan Cowles and Scotty Lee. Kerouac died in St. Petersburg in 1969 and spent his last night of his life drinking at the Flamingo. The pub will also serve a pre-show homemade Irish stew meal and what owner Nichols calls the “best deal in town,” known as the Kerouac drink, a shot of whiskey and beer for $2.25
