The number of haunted happenings and family fun fests in Tampa Bay is what’s truly scary this Halloween season. Here’s a list to start, which will be updated as we come up for air from the fall deluge of non-trick-or-treat events. Black Moth Super Rainbow Super Halloween Extravaganza Celebrate All Hallow's Eve with a "Jack show" and costume contest. Psychedelic wonder Black Moth Super Rainbow headlines, and Casket Girls and Fortune Howl lend to the creepy-cool musical entertainment. Play the game: "Is it a shoegazer or zombie?" Blue Sunday: The Halloween Edition Microgroove, with the help of DJs Chris "Cub" Preston and Rob Haskew, will spin classic indie-punk Halloween songs by Siouxsie & the Banshees, Ministry, The Misfits, Dead Kennedys, The Cure, Sonic Youth, Bauhaus and Joy Division. Booooobie Ball Help survivors of breast cancer get a new start while enjoying food, music and a variety of events. Dance to tunes from Late Night Bass while participating in a costume contest and a silent auction. All proceeds go to My Hope Chest, an organization dedicated to facilitating breast reconstruction of un-insured breast cancer survivors. Chic a Boo! Here's treat for grownups, a Halloween night soiree spread out across two venues — Kelly's Chic-a-Boom Room and Blur. Hosted By Tina Tourette; cover for the event is $6.66. The 11th annual Halloween party and costume contest will give out more than $1,500 in cash and prizes. Drink specials include Bacardi Boo Brew $5. DJ Chris Craze keeps folks dancing on the Blur floor 9 p.m.-3 a.m. Doors open at 8 p.m. Contest begins at 9:30. Three hundred to 500 people expected to attend. [The $6.66 cover is "a sassy, advertising promo," according owner Virgil Kelly, who adds that it's "nothing serious and subject to change; probably to $6"). Open to 21 and older only. Children’s Halloween Spooktacular & Fall Festival The Treasure Island annual kids fest brings monstrous smiles Fri., Oct. 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis facility located at 10315 Paradise Blvd. Activities will include a costume contest, carnival games and glow golf. Moonwalks and interactive games, entertainment, refreshments and a haunted hayride add to the fun. Judging for the costume contest will begin at 6:30 with the 2 and under age group. Creature Feature Emerald Bar is hosting the creepiest art show in town. Costumes encouraged, of course, and Halloween-themed pieces will be on display by St. Pete artists. Thurs., Oct. 25, 7 p.m. Free. 727-898-6054. 550 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. Event on Facebook.

Dog-O-Ween at Jonny Reno's Dress Up Your pooch for prizes every week 6-9 p.m. and a grand prize at the end of the month. Prizes and gift baskets from One Lucky Dog, Animal House, Best Buddies and Reno Beach Surf Shop. The first prize winner of every week of the five weeks will appear online for voting for the grand prize of a beach cruiser bicycle. Contest dates: Tuesdays through Oct 30. jonnyreno.com.

Fantasma Fest Fantasma Fest is an annual event that unites the Ybor City community in celebration of all of its music, food and culture events for Halloween. Haunted Seventh Avenue, ghost tours, the Hell on Wheels motorcycle run and poker walk, Reel Terror festival featuring Florida-made horror films and filmmaker workshops are highlighted,along with the the Fantasma Feast restaurant/pub crawl with "extremely" exotic food samplings; a bartending competition where participants must create a Fantasma themed cocktail; local crafts, food and beverage vendors showcasing unique items; the Little Monsters daytime children's event and costume contest; a zombie pub crawl and zombie dance party; and much more, through Oct. 31 at various restaurants, bars, concert venues and stores in Ybor City. facebook.com/FantasmaFest.

33rd Annual Freakers Ball Skipper's Smokehouse's legendary costume contest/music event was the big bohemian bash before the first official Guavaween. Each year, Skipper's spend a couple of weeks revamping the stage and the property in a new Halloween theme. This year is "The End Of The World: Yours And Mayan" and the Skipperdome is transforming into a Mayan temple plaza with ziggurat and sacrificial altar.
