The Tampa Pitcher Show in Carrollwood may not be as big and opulent as Tampa Theatre, but it hosts and supports fledgeling arts and entertainment groups, offering a diverse and alternative slate of events, ranging from music to improv comedy to burlesque to late-night cult movies. Entertainment junkies in Tampa are rallying to help an old cinema-’n’-grub mainstay stay in business with a Benefit for Tampa Pitcher Show’s Digital Conversion so that the movie theater can show films using the industry’s standard format. Headlining the theater’s benefit: The Lonesome Hobos, 2 Undercover, The Lint Rollers and The Quivering Rhythm Hounds. The event takes place noon-5 p.m. on Sun., Feb. 23 at the venue. Two TPS events this weekend include a shadowcast screening of Risk on Sat., Feb. 22. The classic 1985 comedy whodunit features an all-star cast that includes Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn and Martin Mull. Doors open at 11:30 p.m., tickets are $8. On Sat., March 1, the Hellcats Burlesque will perform at 10:30 p.m. The theater is also planning a Sunday Lunch Buffet Comedy Show in the next month. —Julie Garisto
