Recycled Tunes

When: Thu., Feb. 6 2014
Attention band geeks hoping to attend Gasparilla Music Festival but can’t afford a ticket: GMF’s Recycled Tunes will exchange your no-longer-used Fender or bass drum for a ticket to the now two-day music festival on Sat., Feb. 8, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. in the parking lot on Ashley Drive, across from Curtis Hixon Park. For every instrument donated the donor will receive a free one-day general admission ticket TO GMF 2014. Last year, Don Banks Music donated more than 25 hours of manpower to repair the instruments donated and GMF paid for the parts. His and GMF’s joint program repairs and places donated instruments in Hillsborough County schools, where music departments have been devastated by budget cuts. Recycled Tunes reps will provide one (only one, folks) Saturday or Sunday ticket in exchange for your instrument, and will be entered to win one of three grand prizes. GMF Headliners this year include the Flaming Lips, Trombone Shorty, Jason Isbell, RJD2 and Delta Spirit. —Julie Garisto
