NATIONALS OF NOTE
Youngblood Brass Band (10:45 p.m., Crowbar) The 10-member Youngblood isn’t like any brass band you’ve seen before, nor is their sound what you’d expect to hear from a band coming out of Wisconsin: a vibrant, bombastic synthesis of hip-hop production and jazz improv chops. YBB’s new album, Pax Volumni, was delivered last month via Tru Thoughts (Quantic, Alice Russell, Bonobo), and is marked by multi-drum rhythms, the sharp-spitted verses of lyricist/producer D.H. Skogen and low-end fill-ins by sousaphonist Nat McIntosh, whose deep notes join brass arrangements from a section that doesn’t follow any naturally set patterns as horns rise, spiral, dive, race, veer, and sometimes stumble and creep along.
The So So Glos (11:10 p.m., The Social) You could throw the DIY punk label onto The So So Glos and be generally correct. The band has its own label and recording studio/showspace, Shea Stadium, where they produced and self-released 2013 debut full-length Blowout, and their sound is raucous punkified rock. But the Brooklyn four-piece seem to embrace a more carefree attitude and surprising spells of melody, taking skanky sonic detours amid the garage fuzz and delivering vocals that can be goofy-charming along with the usual rah-rah choruses and nasal-snotty posturing. Blowout has earned some shine from reputable sources, too — “Band to Watch” praise from Rolling Stone, an “All Songs Considered” nod from NPR, a 7.6-rated review on pitchfork.com, and a feature-length Q&A plus full album preview at spin.com.
FLORIDA-GROWN
The Dewars (10:40 p.m., The Roosevelt) This pair of South Florida-bred, St. Augustine-based twins (brothers Anthony and Zachary Dewar) have self-released a few EPs that evoke the quirky trippy folk pop vintage of The Kinks while maintaining a finely crafted modern production palette with lush instrumental textures and playful sound-splices, all brightened up by the brothers’ enchanting vocal harmonies.
Flashlights (6:55 p.m., The Social) A South Florida quartet with a grrl drummer (Melissa Hopkins), a mid-20s lead singer/guitarist who looks like he’s 12 and has fresh beseeching vocals to match (Terry Caudill), and an indie rock aesthetic with ’90s pop-punk verve. Digital EP Don’t Take Me Seriously was issued this May via Hard Rock Records.
Sunbears! (Midnight, New World) The Jacksonville purveyors of exuberant, blissful electro-psychedelic pop as piloted by songwriting duo Jared Chase Bowser and Jonathan Grant Berlin bring their dazzling banquet of lights and sounds to town in the midst of producing new album Future Sounds (out next year on New Granada) and issuing a limited 7" featuring the synth-whirring drive of first single “He’s A Lie! He’s Not Real!”
Ricky Kendall (4:20 p.m., The Dirty Shame) I don’t just dig Gainesville artist Ricky Kendall because he wrote a song called “Leilani Heights,” but because the singer-songwriter has a warm, soulfully brassy drawl and easy rambling harmonica-strewn swamp-folk blues to back it up.

GreyMarket (12:50 a.m., Market on 7th) A duo that packs a punch of big, bass-pulsing laptop-boosted synth-tronic rock as driven by electric guitar and live drums; for fans of Muse.
Rocksteady@8 (1:30 a.m., Crowbar) Frontman Jason Nwabacharocha rhymes and toasts over the worldly beats and funkified keyboard grooves of this multi-piece local reggae staple, their sound soaked in three-horn brass and imbued with plenty of feel-good vibes.

Following past Antiwarpt traditions of drawing inactive acts out of retirement for one special performance, Brokenmold and New Granada join forces to present two more exciting reunions. Playing what is likely their last concert ever are Sleepy Vikings, featuring Julian Conner, Tessa McKenna, Sandi Streppone, Jensen Kistler and everybody’s favorite New York art student, drummer Ryann Slauson (8:30 p.m., Crowbar). Gainesville’s Dear + Glorious Physician reunites after more than five years. The quartet of Westfall siblings was known for crunchy, reverb-drenched indie art rock that earned them Pixies comparisons in their heyday (11 p.m., New World Brewery).
