On target: Kids’ archery lessons

Raising a new generation of straight arrows.

Hey, get your kids away from the Wii and TV and get them in the fresh air to try an old-fasioned sport — and when we say old, we mean really old, as in “ye olde” — Robin Hood-style. Retired gym coach and certified archery instructor Dan McKaeg teaches proper technique, safety, flight distance and other essential bow-arrow skills in St. Pete Beach, Palm Harbor, Largo and other locations. He typically groups kids ages 8-10 and 11-15. He makes the lessons fun and brings candy and other goodies for prizes.

Upcoming sessions at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive, are Mondays, March 5-19, 4 and 4:45 p.m. April 2-30, May 7-28, spring break camp March 26-30, and summer camps June 11-15 and July 9-13, Monday through Friday. The March 5-19 class is $30. For info for those and other lessons, call Coach Kaeg at 727-536-6207.

How about a steak?

Go to Bern’s Steak House.

I’m on a budget, so take me to the Taco Bus.
