The name of Bleu Acier's current show — in Latin, "to lie" — speaks to the shades of ambiguity that pervade Steve McClure’s recent works on paper. McClure lives and works in Brooklyn and is a graduate of the University of South Florida. For this show, he shares small ink paintings on paper, lithographs and large distemper paintings on linen at Bleu Acier. The series of 25 black-and-white images brings us ships, fashion, lions, stage props, ancient sculptures and interiors, including “Ship in a Cardboard Box” and alternate versions of the same theme to evoke a puzzling narrative of departures and encounters.
