Mandy Patinkin

When: Mon., Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $40
Before he was The Princess Bride’s avenging hero Inigo Mantoya and long before he was the charismatic doc on Chicago Hope or oddly paternal guardian angel — both literally and figuritively — in Dead Like Me and Homeland, Emmy-winning actor Mandy Patinkin had hung his star above the Great White Way, racking up Tony awards for lead roles in Evita! and other major musicals. Patinkin is as multifaceted on stage as he is on camera; his expressive style influenced by his Jewish upbringing, Eastern European folk traditions and all manner of song-and-dance man styles. The celeb takes to the road during his hiatus and performs at the revamped Lakeland Center (sans the ”Civic”) with Paul Ford on Piano. The show has gotten good press so far and features tunes by Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter, Harry Chapin and more. —Julie Garisto
