"Free Bird" might very well be the most requested song by drunk concert goers who aren't actually seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd live, while "Sweet Home Alabama" might very well be the No. 1 most played track on classic rock radio, even though the Southern hard rock pioneers have plenty of other great tunes. Original member Gary Rossington and vocalist Johnny Van Zant (younger brother to the late Ronnie) revived Lynyrd Skynyrd after their post-plane crash hiatus in 1987, and the current incarnation has issued nine albums in the 25 years since then; the latest is 2012's Last of a Dyin' Breed.
