Dubbed a “community celebration of all things local” and “market on steroids.” Localtopia reminds us that we have the power to ensure some of our most unique local businesses stay afloat and thrive. Presented by non-profit Keep Saint Petersburg Local, the massive marketplace in Williams Park celebrates SPL’s two-year anniversary with crafts, art, food and drink, handcrafted jewelry, eco-friendly candles, plant life and yoga and more from around 100 participating vendors. Three artists will paint live pieces, which will then become installations in the park while you grab some carefully-selected local brews from the “Drink Like A Local” draft beer truck. Nearly a dozen bands will take the stage with other live entertainment tucked in between. Watch and relax in the vignette seating areas created by some of St. Pete’s favorite antique and vintage shops, or check out the newly added “skate village” with handcrafted skateboards, unique streetwear and an indoor street-style skate park. A shuffleboard, courtesy of the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard club, will be rolled out for play. And the kiddos? There’ll be children’s area with musical, educational fun too. —Mina Abgoon
