$10; free to first 50 moviegoers.
Is it possible to make a decent movie for $4,000? The creative force behind Ghosts With Shit Jobs would answer in the affirmative — according to its writer and executive producer, Jim Munroe, that’s what he and his collaborators have done. In the movie’s dystopian future, the U.S. has defaulted on its loans and been forced to declare bankruptcy. By 2040, in a poetic bit of turnabout, China outsources its worst jobs to North America, which has become overridden with slums. The movie tracks a small group of white Westerners (known colloquially to the East as “ghosts’) in Toronto, each doing what they can to make a living — from creating robot babies to acting as human spam. Thanks to $1,000 backing from benefactor Damian Kondrotas via kickstarter.com, Ghosts With Shit Jobs is screening at Muvico Centro and will be free to the first 50 moviegoers.
