Be inspired, entertained and gain awareness of the children in our global community at the Gasparilla Film Festival Global Lens international premiere for
Restore Gulu: Child Soldier No More. The film, screening at at Tampa Theatre this Sunday, is about the journey of restoration and hope for the people of a Ugandan community plagued by war — where 50 percent of the population is below the age of 15 and have never experienced a peaceful society. In addition, The Watoto Children’s Choir, an African children choir based in Kampala, Uganda, performs at the event. The choir has performed for the Queen of England at Buckingham, as well as for former President George W. Bush in the White House. Its members are orphans ages 6 to 15, who will sweetly deliver a message of peace and resurgence through their performance “Beautiful Africa: A New Generation.” Watoto, a non-profit that provides assistance for orphans and widows, co-presents the exclusive event. Watoto, incidentally, is Swahili for child. For more info about the organization's efforts or to contribute, visit
