Clearwater’s beautiful Capitol Theatre is launching a new cult film series, and they’ve chosen the freakiest night of the month for the maiden voyage. Screening the next superstitious final weekday — the Hanzo sword of slasher flicks, Friday the 13th. The movie that kicked off the ’80s dead teenager craze chronicles the gory goings-ons at the scenic (and thankfully fictional) Camp Crystal Lake. Better than the many sequels and imitators, Friday the 13th stays chilling right up to the shocking final shot. Tickets for all screenings are available at the Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office, located at 1111 McMullen-Booth Road in Clearwater, by calling 727.791.7400 or by logging onto atthecap.com. The Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office is open Monday through Saturday, from noon to 6 pm. The Capitol Theatre Ticket Office opens one hour prior to showtime. (Text by Joe Bardi.)
