The series of black-and-white images show photographer Laine Nixon attempting various Guinness World Records. Inspired by the existentialist idea of transcendence, Nixon’s photographs are intended to be silly and romantic while celebrating, what she believes, is the human capacity for greatness. Nixon is a senior at USF pursuing a BFA in Studio Art, with a concentration in painting. Artist reception is from 7 to 9 p.m. on Fri., Feb. 15, in the Centre Gallery at the Marshall Student Center in room 2700, 4202 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa, Fla. It is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mon. through Fri. Centre Gallery is an innovative, student-run space at the University of South Florida's Marshall Student Center, in room 2700.
