Opera Tampa celebrates its 18th season and the Florida Opera Festival's first year with masterpiece performances commingled with accessible, contemporary opera-related events — enjoyable to both aficionados and newbies. At 7 p.m. on March 16, a tasty and amusing operetta puts the cream on top, and gets the stage cooking at the TECO theater — literally, Bon Appetit: Have Your Chocolate Cake and Eat It Too! is a tribute to kitchen legend Julia Child at Straz Center’s TECO Theater.
