With all the that’s been popping up in downtown St. Pete, you know a lot of independent business owners aren’t afraid to gamble. Try your hand, too, while getting to know local shops, restaurants and galleries by participating in the first ever EDGE District Poker Crawl. The competition has a modified format to allow participants to walk to participating businesses, get a card and a special deal. Only five playing cards complete a hand for the jaunt, but you can go to as many businesses as possible to improve your chances. Along with the poker playing, the day will be filled with family-geared activities and special promotions. Take the kids to Creative Clay at 1114 Central Ave. noon-3 p.m. to create their own cards, build a house of cards or trade some too. When finished, drop off your hand at the Green Bench Brewing Co. before 7:30 p.m., where winners will be announced at 8. No bluffing! Aug. 30, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. The EDGE District covers Central Avenue and First Avenue North and South between Ninth and 16th streets.
