It’s an international drug of choice, a liquid coping mechanism for tired souls, and has been around for centuries, so no wonder the Tampa Bay History Center is presenting Coffee: The World in Your Cup. The new exhibition gives an overview of the influence of coffee on cultures and economies worldwide, from its early reputation as a "revolutionary drink" through the way we identify with it in 21st century cafes. Highlights include interpretive displays, photographs that portray farmers' roles in a global economy, and short videos about the industry. Opening day celebration is Oct. 6, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Oct. 11, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., is Premium Blend, an evening coffee tasting and members event, and on Oct. 13, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the center hosts a Family Fun Day for Veg Fest. The first 100 people to purchase gallery admission on Saturday will receive a free bag of gourmet coffee courtesy of Melitta Coffee. —Julie Garisto
