Best Urban Farming Initiative
10,000 Good Greens

St. Petersburg’s Midtown neighborhood was considered until recently to be a food desert, devoid of abundant sources of fresh produce for families. That was until 10,000 Good Greens came along. Seedlings for mustard and collard greens were grown locally and distributed across the community to families and businesses, the idea being that greens are easy to grow and empower the community to cultivate its own food. The project was spearheaded by St. Petersburg’s Sustainable Urban Agriculture Coalition, aided by member and former Garden Restaurant owner Emmanuel Roux and several community members.
