Homer's epic story of war, honor, violence and the Greek siege of the city of Troy is brought to life by a mysterious, time and care-worn Poet who is compelled to tell this story, to connect with the modern audience, in the shadow of modern wars. "Explosive, altogether breathtaking," says The Chicago Sun-Times. Lisa Peterson and Denis O’Hare’s penned the acclaimed adaptation, translated by Robert Fagles. Opening 8 p.m., Jan. 10 at the Springs Theatre, 8029 N. Nebraska Avenue in Tampa. Runs through Feb. 2, with performances at the Firehouse Cultural Center in Ruskin, 101 N.E. First Ave. Jan 17-19. Directed by Ami Sallee, the production features actor Brendan Ragan as The Poet. Performances return to the Springs Theatre Jan. 23-25 and Jan. 30-Feb. 2.
