      <![CDATA[I was surprised by the negative review of this play as I found An Empty Plate in the Café du Grand Boeuf quite interesting and enjoyable. Yes, Hemingway hovers throughout the play, but the main character's impotence provides a good counterpoint to the macho image of Hemingway that our theater critic so despises.
