To all of you who say that it will probably make the attacker mad and hurt the woman more, yes there is a chance of that. But you have no way of knowing if he was intending on killing you in the first place. Most men, even cereal rapists have feeling down there, even the men that talk about only being about to "get off" in a situation of rape. It has nothing to do with having no feeling down there, and needing to be as violent as possible, though some sick people do that. It is about the power and control aspect. That is why people rape other people. If you don't get this go talk to a psych teacher, they can explain in more detail.
A rapist gets off on having power and control over another person. The fact that a woman now has the ability to take control of the situation, will not only stop the attack, but is really going to freak the attacker out. More often then not, from what I have seen working in US emergency rooms, people in general, even those who attack others, are almost always more worried about their own self preservation, which also means not getting caught. They want to be able to do it again, this also stops any future attempts/attacks of rape. This, again, stops the attack, gives control back to the victim, and now forces the man to admit his crimes.
It is also a pretty good bet, that the men who are paranoid about their partner using it for revenge. Why would you be so worried if you weren't or aren't a cheater? And, police, here in the US, do these things called investigations when crimes happen. This is not like back in the 80's when a DV (domestic violence) was treated with a talking to and a "good night, don't make us come back out here again." Now, if they don't like what they see, they will take both the man and the woman to jail. Now both parties are more likely to be charged with a crime. This device is just like a gun shot, if you show up at the ER having been shot, they have to tell the police. The police are obligated to investigate the entirety of what happened. In theory that is how it works, and I know that we do not live in a perfect world. But I didn't see them out law kitchen knifes after Lorena Bobbit chopped John Bobbit's penis off because he cheated on her.
In reality this device will stop rape, give victims back their right to and over their body, mark their attacker as a rapist, and probably even stop a rape from happening all together because there is a product like this in this world, and men now it's out there. The bottom line is, no one should be raping anyone, ever, you should have a right to and over your own body, no one has the right to tell you how to use your body, or to use force to make you let them use your body.
