I hope Trump gets a good spot at RNC. All of the folks who lost their money on Trump Tower Tampa can ask for a refund.
What's the point of a survey? Two hot issues on the survey have been moving forward despite lopsided survey results. The tactic of sitting on results for three months lets the city advance their agenda until the question becomes moot.
The first survey found 76% support for an increased property tax and 72% for using reserves to balance the budget. The second survey found 60% opposition to the flat tax. Calling it a Fire Fee may have boosted support. Its a tax and not a fee and goes to general services (with the exception of funding the purchase of one fire truck) and not the fire department. The city uses dishonest language to win support from those who respect and appreciate firefighters and may be tricked into thinking this will add more fire protection.
On July 12th PBR folks sat quietly watching council pass the flat tax (fire tax) despite their commitment to speak for the people.
The third survey may be of little importance if it comes too late to impact the outcome. Not acting will allow the 1% to win.
Only 16% supported building the new Pier with an average vote of "not needed", yet the city council voted to spend $5 million for design work. The architect getting paid from this money is on a crusade to lobby voters to support the Lens. Even if voters soundly reject the Lens much of that money will be gone.
The first survey also found only 42% support for Construction of a light rail system with an average vote of "unimportant".
