The right to marry is a fundamental freedom and a matter of State law. Thus, discriminatory anti-gay language simply does not belong in the National Party's platform - if the Republican Party is to truly reflect its belief in limited federal goverment, a shared conservative value. Many gay Americans hold such conservative values as well, and belive that as taxpayers, US citizens, voters, and contributors to our Nation's well-being, we should not be subjected to discriminatory rhetoric that does absolutely nothing to advance our core fundamental values. Inclusion, tolerance and respect are hallmarks of American culture and civility, relecting our most cherished constitutional values. I sincerely hope that the Republican Party's National Convention & Platform can embrace this in 2012.
