What about Patch's Place on Bay to bay and Bayshore?!? Such a delicious dive (though Pinkys will always have my heart)....
credit due to the bends for having good liquors to work with and interesting cocktails available but all three i've had there were terrible. ciro's or mandarin are your best bet for a great drink.
I am a chocolate chip cookie lover, I eat them for breakfast and as a side dish and appetizer for many other meals whenever I have a batch. I was on a constant quest to find the perfect chocolate chip cookie and the first bite I had of Bobs Cookies blew my fracking mind. Perfectly crisp, salty, sweet and they have a very complex airy texture that's simply exquisite. I don't know how he does it. I'm thinking of asking for a monthly subscription to these cookies. The only bad thing about Bobs Cookies is that I know at some point, like all things, they will come to an end. Hopefully that's not for a very long time!
Cigar City's cider is being produced at Keel and Curley winery in Plant City until completion of their cider house.
Clearwater Bagel is a great bagel shop. Every year my wife and I make the stop after running the Turkey Trot. Good coffee and great, fresh Everything bagels. The wife likes the pumpernickel or salt bagels. We usually bring a small container of homemade chive cream cheese for our spread.
A friend of mine from New York was once served a bagel from Einstein Bros. She is a very nice person so she said, "... this is not actually a bagel. This is simply lovely round bread."
How did New York Bagel Shop on 34th St S not make this list? I definitely think it's better than St. Pete Bagel Co. (which is good, just not as good).
psst - w/r/t mise en place: nate doesn't work there anymore.
I love Clearwater Bagels. AS good as got back in Boston / Brookline.
brandon bagel...eh yet close to home
i've always stopped at clrwtr bagels when on that side of the bay and always thought they were best in tampabay. tb bagels 2nd and frequented
Um, where is Brandon Bagels on this list? This small, local bakery has, in my opinion, the best New York style bagels in Tampa.
this list is making me thirsty!
I worked as an usher for Cirque in St. Pete and we could eat at the cafeteria when working a double shift. It was outstanding food! quite the experience
Cassis is the most over priced mediocre restaurant in St. Pete. Have a drink there to people watch then eat elsewhere.
Thanks for the write-up! We're super proud of our Barely Buzzed! ^Katie, Beehive Cheese
finally something good to talk about in tampa!!! REAL bread !!
and the eye candy working there ain't bad either!
Alfajores! If I could make an upside down exclamation point I would! I hope this is a signal that the bakery culture is being resurrected. A lot of people hate on bread, but I think it's because they've never had good bread. Good bread has no carbs, or calories, just a divinely airy pulp encased in a crispy, chewy crust. There's a reason it's considered the body of Christ.
apparently tampabay can't compare to the rest of the world's so-called 'gourmet' food
but we already knew that....
i've been lucky to go to europe a couple times with plans to go a couple more times but always look forward to coming home to our...
