Re: “Jose Gonzalez, Thee Oh Sees, Death Grips, Purity Ring & more scheduled to land in Tampa Bay

Another notable that's not on your list, probably since it's not till February, is Southern Soul Assembly with Luther Dickinson, Marc Broussard, J.J. Grey & Anders Osborne!...

Re: “Music Issue 2015: GNC Sessions at WMNF live studios

Hey dudes, what about Live Music Showcase? We use that studio every Friday afternoon, to live broadcast of the band/show and record the video of the show, which is broadcast on TBAE, every Friday and Saturday nights. We have almost 100 shows/bands recorded. I think we deserve a mention.

Re: “The Music Issue 2015: Made in Tampa Bay

The vast majority of even independent and DIY bands and solo performers that make it out of Florida … have cut with a pro studio of some sort in some way. Very rare for true 100% DIY in reality to actually succeed, unless someone in your band, or a buddy musician regularly mixes and masters national releases.

But DIY your own demos? Probably a good idea!

Re: “The Music Issue 2015: Made in Tampa Bay

Today you really don't have to spend tons of money to cut a song. Pro tools is out there now and everybody and there brother seem to have it available. More and more programs are available to use from your computer. Don't spend 800. With what is supposed to be a real studio then 200 extra to correct the things you didn't want in the first place. 1000 dollars for one 3 min song? That's what I paid, and the guy, not very professional either. Sound like a rip off? I think so, so does everyone I talk to. Do it yourself, there are always other musicians that can guide you.

Re: “Iggy Azalea’s minstrel show is imploding

I will freely give credit to the author for being very intelligent and well spoken - there is NO denying that. However it's a perfect example of how racism can cloud and misguide even very intelligent people.
Is a white girl performing rap music really that threatening to you? How can you say that rap music (or any form of music/art/etc) belongs solely to black people? That is so openly racist that it does not have to be pointed out but after reading your entire article I believe that the author would openly and proudly admit to that line of thought so I will say that music is a form of self expression, entertainment and it can be made to carry a political/social message. However when someone such as the author says it's wrong for a white girl to perform her style of music and it will set racial policies back to the days of "Black Face" - well that may be the stupidest thing I have read on the web today. Maybe we should ask out 2 term black president (Since the number of white people in America is MMMUUCCCHHH higher than the number of black Americans (NO I don't care to Google the numbers) that means that MORE WHITE AMERICANS voted for a black president than black Americans). But now we are faced with a white girl performing rap. OMG!!!!!!!! We are surely doomed!!!!
On a separate note - why would a citizen of another country be held responsible for news in Ferguson? This woman lives across the world from Furguson and its pretty narrow minded of the author to think that because something is going on in America that all Australians have to zoom in and act on it or they are terrible people. So let's test that theory: I would like to see one single incident where the author stood up and protested or got involved in any racist events in Australia. HHHHMMMM Probably a pretty short list.
Look this semi cute chick is a flash in the pan. She has little talent and her 15 min are almost over but for black people to attack her because she raps and did NOT get involved in Ferguson is flat out racist in itself. It shows that racists come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Honestly - to criticize an Australian for not getting involved in one incident in American politics is just pure race hunting. So it's obvious Azaelia Banks has to play the race card to get any attention.......hopefully she can find another semi-cute white girl with not much talent to put on blast so she can get her name circulating. Your right - she seems so much more "interesting".
All in all - this article was so racially warped and determined to create a problem out of a non-story that it had me hooked. Anger is truly a powerful emotion. It can make people seek out and create something out of nothing.
