"Royal Palace is a go-to spot, not only for its terrific authentic cuisine and sophisticated atmosphere.."
Its all relative I suppose, certainly this is all true in comparison to Dennys.
The closest thing to authentic Thai food in Tampa Bay --and its not very good, is at the Thai Temple on Sundays worth going to for the beautiful setting.
Best Indian food I have had in Tampa Bay has been at the 5th Element in Oldsmar. The Dosa Masala is excellent. In Tampa proper I recommend Bombay Masala on Waters. Im still working my way through the menu, but so far like the Lamb Saag and
Baingan Bharta.
when you go to ABC Seafood ask for the fried quail. Yum!
dont reward failure by publishing less than half of an agreed article. this helps no one, not the writer, who learns not to follow through, not the editor, who shows favoritism and questionable motives, and certainly not the reader, who is distracted from the review
granted, CL could have published this article and not told readers about the original idea, but it would have eaten at its edtiors already frayed 'accomplishments'
Filipino food is my least favorite type of food. I used to date someone who is Filipino and I had to eat many times at the very many family get togethers that were always happening. The food was very bland and simple. I cannot think of one positive thing to say about it.
Nice, but I have Amish Paradise by Weird Al stuck in my head now.
Re: “Middle Eastern European”
There is a great Polish / Eastern European deli and market in St. Pete: EUROPEAN GOODIES, INC. at 4701 49th Street North, # B, St Petersburg, FL 33709, 727-526-1118, where many of their sausages and pierogies are made in-house. It has been in business for many years and is superb. Lunch is available most days as well.
PIEROGIES & MORE has a good selection too. They are at 6945 66th Street North, Pinellas Park, Fl 33781, 727-546-1525, on the southeast corner of 70th Avenue and 66th Street.
As of this writing (Feb. 04, 2013), I have heard that Baltic Amber Restaurant is closed but that the Sikorski Deli at 12545 Ulmerton Road has expanded. Cannot confirm either of those but call first before venturing out to either one.
Middle Eastern food can be found at CEDAR MARKET at 6531 54th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33709, 727-546-9687. Try to get there on the days that fresh pita bread and spinach and meat pies are delivered from Tampa. Plus they have reasonably priced olives, cheeses and lebneh (what commercial Greek yogurt wishes it really was), and a large selection of grocery items and spices.
Hope this helps adventuresome cooks to find the ingredients that they need and keeps our local merchants in business.
