Nelson to Obama: I can't support Kerry-Lieberman energy bill
Senator Nelson in Florida isn't the only member of that august body who doesn't want any drilling near his home state. Today, six west coast Senators (California's Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein, Oregon's Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, and Washington state's Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray) filed a bill that would ban offshore drilling on the west coast. That's even after Obama has declared that there is nothing doing there until 2017.

Arizona immigration bill brings the issue to the forefront of national consciousness
outh Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham was so disgusted when he heard about how the Democrats were going to start talking up immigration reform (there isn't any bill that's been seriously discussed, though there is Illinois Democrat Luis Gutierrez in the House, and a proposal by New York Democrat Charles Schumer and Graham that has yet to be fully written in the Senate), that he says he's not going to work with John Kerry and Joe Lieberman on a crucial climate change bill.

Speakers at USF Forum on immigration reform say their time is now
Last night the one hundred or so people in attendance at the Oval Theatre in the Marshall Center heard from St. Petersburg immigration attorney Arturo Rios, who said that those immigrants who go before an immigration judge these days, 81% end up being deported. He said that currently, enforcement has been heightened by the federal government, and said right now there are more ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents in the country working than FBI agents.

Last week for health care discussions?
There were plenty of Republicans on the chat shows to rebuke what they called the White House spin, none more vitriolic than South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, already getting considerable heat from his GOP brethren for deigning to even to talk to administration and other Democrats to try to push along issues like what to do with Gitmo and immigration reform.

Hillary Clinton laughs at NBC Today Show's questions on her 'being marginalized' in Obama administration
This theme that Hillary Clinton is disenchanted has been promulgated by media heavyweights, none bigger than Tina Brown, now with the Daily Beast website. Brown is writing a book on Hillary (and Bill) called The Clinton Chronicles, due out next year. I'm not the first person to speculate that Brown is using the power of her website to perpetuate this drama about the Secretary of State, somehow being frustrated by a lack of power in the administration (Didn't Brown write earlier this year something about "It's time to let Hillary take off her burqa?" Yes, she did).
