In recognition of Tampa's 28 years of having one of the nation's strongest tree canopy, Mayor Iorio planted a Pignut Hickory tree in Lykes Gaslight Square Park. The Pignut Hickory tree plays the role of purifying water before it enters any stream, river or lake, and is supposed to grow up to 60 ft. The tree will help purify the air, conserve soul and water, help moderate temperature, and provide food for wildlife.
